Uefa Champions League Draw Friday 16th

#71

Youth Team
It's not justified, but I don't really feel I need to justify myself, I am merely expressing my opinion.

I respect that, but in that case, 9-0 would mean the same to me...

I can't believe some Benfica fans have confidence in this game.

Did I read that right? Should we start a petition asking the Benfica board of directors to concede that Liverpool is far superiour, and therefore should automatically go through without the need for two obviously pointless games?

I've seen some pompous stuff in this forum, but that's pretty f*cked up when you can't even accept that some fans at least have some hope in their team, despite being underdogs...

Not one person here said Liverpool was an "easy" draw. Regardless of who we got at this stage of the CL, we were always going to have the odds against us heavily. So whatever, we have nothing to lose, Liverpool has a title to defend....we'll have definitely tremendous home support and a warrior attitude going into this draw.

Chelsea-Barca and Real M - Arsenal kick ass!!!! I hope Barca will go through. Benfica is a good team but not good as Liverpool. I've dreamed for Real M - Arsenal clash and now it's for real...attacking style of play all 90 minutes. Villareal got the easiest rival, no problem to get to the next round...Rangers just cant match their class. I hope we'll see great matches with a lot of goals.

Oh, did nobody say it was easy? I apologise for that then, I thought someone had. And I meant to say I couldn't believe they had so much confidence.

Benfica will do just fine ;)

I can't believe some Benfica fans have confidence in this game. Our attack is fluent, and as soon as Crouch n Morientes start scoring consistantly (if) then our attack will be great.

I expect us to destroy Benfica. To win by at least 3 goals on aggregate.

so, do you know our defense? the one who let RvN shoot 0 times :fool:

yeah, im confident, we wanted a english team to come play with us, plus the flight prices are less expensive to go there :)

i will probably be at anfield too :rockman: :rockman:

I think you would agree that Liverpool is a much more preferable opponent to Chelsea.

Sadly, we are even though we are the European Champions... especially in comparison to 4 of your potential opponents Chelsea, Real, Bayern or Juve.

Yes, like Porto was last year, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Liverpool was the underdog last year, no one in their right mind would consider them CL contenders at the beginning of last season.

Obviously you cant expect to be put in the same level as AC Milan or Juventus just because you beat them last year to win a Champions League. Like Benfica cant expect to be considered a contender just because we beat Manchester United.

We're talking about teams that have been among the Top 8 or Top 4 every year in the past 10 years.

All we're demanding here is a bit of mutual respect, that just isn't coming through with the likes of Rami. He is yet to understand the difference between confidence and arrogance.

Everyone's looking forward to the Real - Arsenal game, would be funny if it ended 0-0 on both legs and one team had to go through on penalties. :p

The referee?......what did he do apart from send off Drogba?.....At Stamford bridge we got 3 goals in the first 20 minutes .This was our first CL as a new team, while Barca was a pretty settled squad. They performed a miracleous comeback though but it wasn't enough.Remember Ronaldhinho and Eto were on fire last season too, but it still was not enough to beat us.Nobody knows what will happen until the day comes.Maybe Deco will dive 6 times, get 6 penalties and thats us out.Maybe Carvalho will do something stupid and get sent off.Who knows. It will be a great 2 games, full of drama and excitement. What more can one ask for.We do not fear one another, although i can only speak for Chelsea fans of course, and we are looking forward to it.

hm... actually they did come back in that game and were leading the aggregate for a long time. The mistake by the referee that I am referring to is allowing Terry's goal when the keeper was obviously obstructed. The sideline ref even raised his flag, crapped his pants, and then put it down. But, I don't want to start an argument about it; I meant the comment in good humor. Hopefully Barca will build enough of a lead this time that it can't come down to the referee. And I agree, many things out of the teams' control could determine the winner but I can't see Barca losing without a huge stroke of bad luck. That's my humble opinion. Either way it's going to be the best matchup of the entire tournament.

A Real - Arse matchup would have been much more mouthwatering and classic a few seasons back when both teams are on top of their game. That could have been a true demonstration of attacking football of the highest level. A shame that such a draw didn't take place until this season.

Still an exciting 2-leg fixture to look forward to though. Although Real are not the team they once were, it will still be a milestone for Arse in Europe if they manage to overcome them since Real have been a constant force in the CL of the last decade...

Of course, apart from their Chelsea game this weekend, I am always rooting for Arse's opponents. :ewan:

good draw, I wanted a challenging team to test our character

anything can happen really, since the matches are in February, we could be a different team by then. Bayern are a very defensively sound team, and Makaay can be a beast when he wants :S

meh, I'm happy. hopefully a repeat of the 02/03 group stages with Inzaghi doing it all (H)
