Road to FIFA World Cup 06 - Disappointing?

Someone said FIFA was too European (OK a lot of you say it), but this could be ridiculous... read careful!

Have you guys read what EA advertises for FIFA 06 RWC? There is absolutely no mention of S. American, Asian or African World Cup qualifying matches. All it mentions is the following (read careful):

************************************************
Road to the FIFA World Cup Mode:
"Take part in the European Qualification rounds for the World Cup or create your own custom tournaments. FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup gives you the opportunity to admire the detail of 72 teams, 1,700 players in nine different stadiums from Europe and the rest of the world…”
*************************************************

NO mention of taking part in WORLD (including S. America, Asia etc) qualification rounds, just EUROPEAN qualification rounds (scary man). Now, the last part serves a hint of hope right? "72 teams, 1,700 players in nine different stadiums from Europe and the rest of the world…” I want to be wrong, trust me guys. I've waited since FIFA 2002 for a chance to qualify with Peru. Since they'll never do it in real life!

I mean look, would it really surprise you guys if EA left out S. America, Africa, Asia and instead only included a qualifying mode for European nations?

And guess what else? No mention of including a create-a-team mode like they had in FIFA RWC 2002.

Something smells funny guys… trust me! :sb9:

I sure as heck hope I am freaking wrong with this one!!!!!!!!!!!! :nape:

So, what do you guys think? Am I wrong or what?

Lets see....the whole game has 72 teams, out of that 52 will be European Teams since it is confirmed that European Qualifiers will be included. That leaves 20 other nations from around the world. Then take into account the fact that 13 places are reserved from European Teams at the WC finals, meaning there will be 19 other countries. So you are absolutely spot on. The 1 remaining team might be an all-star team or something..........

But wait.....this is just the RTWC game isnt it? Which means they'll be producing another game just for the World Cup. Lior....some clarifying please :)

I think this game was only created just for a Xbox360 release title. Most likely microsoft wanted EA to create each sports game for 360 so they'll have new games. Now I think they'll release a World Cup 2006 game just like 2002 because if they don't it would be stupid on EA's part. So instead of recreating FIFA 06 with just better graphics for 360 they just included the European qualifing just to make it diffrent then next spring/early summer they'll release a FIFA World Cup 2006 game.

So I dont think FIFA RTFWC 06 will be an improvment over FIFA 06 its just another title, if you want a improved FIFA game then wait until FIFA 07, thats when they'll have the leagues etc..

Of course thats just my opinion.

And yeah, South America alone has 10 Nations; now add the CONCACAF (USA, Mexico, Costa Rica etc.) and that’s 6 more. Asia has at least 12 that I can think of. Africa has about 15… That is roughly about 43 nations right there. Somebody is getting left out. That wasn’t the case in FIFA RWC 2002 (hmm, although I don’t recall African nations in that game either, I could be wrong).

In any case the XBOX 360 gives EA all the space they need to include all the countries in FIFA, or at least the ability to allow us to create the teams that we want in the game. No mention of create-a-team from EA yet.

It is confusing I think, maybe we are missing something...

Any more ideas anyone?

Yup, you got that right.

I cancelled my pre-order for the game 2 weeks ago after I read that FIFA RTWC 06 only covers 72 national teams. EA is so pathetic. I'd rather to see EA making usual game every year rather than a special game like this.

I think everyone who purchase it will feel dissappointed. :(
My advice: Don't buy it !! :kader:

EA should have taken a BIG NOTE from this.
If they wanna make it exclusive, they MUST have included all countries participants regardless their small countries or not. Otherwise, don't make one !

5 S. American teams for FIFA 06 (XBOX-360)? I don't know about that. :nape:
You mean 5 teams for the FIFA "RWC" on 360 right? There is no FIFA 06 for 360... and still, how could you only include 5 teams from S. America when a total of 10 enter the WC qualifying tournament.
And, as to Peru being in the game, yeah right!!!!!! Look, I'm Peruvian, I wish what you say is true... but fat chance buddy. Please name your source :jambo: .

I agree. I stopped buying the game after FIFA 05 (it took me a while but I was in denial). :kader: :nape: :kader:

Look, EA has no freaking (yes, I often use the word FREAKING) excuses this time around. What are they going to say now... oh, we don’t have enough disk space and blah-blah-blah… or maybe they’ll say that their budget is limited to only 20 Billion freaking dollars, or even better, that they are under-staffed and their employees are overworked and underpaid… :hump: oh damn, that one is probably true of any monopoly driven corporation like EA.

NO EXCUSES EA, the consoles are stepping up, too bad you guys can’t do that as well. :f***:

Firstly.....almost all Fifa-affiliated footballing nations & territories(even the likes of American Samoa & Maldives) take part in qualifying for the WC. That will probably come up to a hefty 150++ teams...way above the announced 72 teams in the game. Were EA making a RTWC campaign as part of FIFA06 then they could be forgiven for leaving out many of the smaller teams. However, EA have explicitly called this game a RTWC edition, so how can they only include the European qualifying campaign?? :nape:

Many have drawn comparisons to FIFA 2002 which i believe is wrong. FIFA 2002 was essentially a regular FIFA game with a WC qualifying mode included & a crap-load of NT's(almost all the countries from UEFA, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL & AFC) besides the usual club teams. Mostly unlicensed & generic though....but you could easily edit them with the in-game creation center. I doubt such a feature will be included in FIFA RTWC 2006.

I suppose rport03 hit the nail on the head with his post. This game will just be a showpiece, nothing more than a preview of what the XBOX 360 will be graphically capable of. A World Cup game will definitely come out. But it will definitely just include the qualified WC teams & a few other random teams. But this entire setup leaves people like me, who enjoyed taking my home country (crappy as it is) all the way thru the qualifiers to the World Cup, very dissapointed.

why only 5 south american teams??!! of all continents...THIS one should be complete.
50 European teams is a little much in my opinion.

in a perfect world:
I say 50 Euro teams, 10 CONMEBOL, 10 CONCACAF, 15 Asia, 15 Africa, OCEANA

well I have been waitin ever since FIFA98 for EA to release a game with the complete african WC qualifiers (generic or not)
but sadly EA just Ignors Africa ever since that game (2002 only 4 teams :kader: while 5 qualify to WC)
this is just crappy they just say europe first, a couple of south america 4 the talents that the fans die for, couple of N.america , and then if there's any space left lets just put any side from africa and asia :nape:

Cool man, even when Peru doesn't deserves to be in the game, is cool to finally have Peru in a FIFA game (last time was in FIFA 2002). Its a pity that i will not have a XBOX360 cause IMO its still too expensive for me, but always i can go to a friends house :) ... more news bout this game, and Official 2006 WC game would be great :rockman:
