Incidents at the Summit of the Americas

As many of you may or may not know, the 4th Summit of the Americas is being held in Mar Del Plata, Argentina. Unfortunately, as is always the case in Argentina, violence seems the only way of protesting :kader: There are many piqueteers and rioters in the streets of Mar Del Plata at this moment burning and looting in protest to President Bush's arrival in Argentina. I would just like to say that today I am ashamed of being Argentinean, and I would like to give my apologies in the part of the middle class of Argentina to President Bush. I understand that President Bush will not read this obviously, but it is a way to let the American people or atleast those that post in this forum understand that not everyone in Argentina thinks like these "savages". Today I am really angered at the images that I see on TV, and I just wanted to vent a bit of anger out. Please, If you do not care for this thread, do not post Ironic comments but just ignore it.

It really is a disgrace to the people of Argentina to have morons making the nation look like this.

I echo andy's comments.

and then we have Maradona accompanying the piqueteers and Chavez while each of them has fortunes and the poor people have nothing. Tonight Maradona will return to his home in his BMW and the poor people will still have no future.. :kader: Sometimes I wonder if Latin America will ever survive without a dictator in power, because it obviously seems that democracy does not work...

why doesn't someone just get a rifle, shoot the retarded f*ck and get it over with.

I mean f*ck, if you're burning stuff in the street, risk your guts to protest in some gimp march, do the world a favour and kill the bastard. It's not like it can't be done.

Yeah. He is the walking symbol of irony. On one side he believes in comunism and on the other he earns $150,000 per interview and drives a BMW. I guess he forgot that all those goodies don't come with Communism

I dont get that either, man - so many people with such hardline convictions against Bush and not one of them makes an attempt on his life. Mind you, a failed assassination attempt would probably result in two or three more countries getting invaded, so it's probably best we let him serve out the few insignificant years he has left then piss on his memory for evermore.

Alvaro Says: And that proves what? Even Karl Marx and the early critics of Capitalism were bourgeois, their wealth and free time allowed them to analyze society; and that is what has been happening to Maradona. HELLO, how can u be a communist in a Capitalist society? Just because lenin wore a coat, does that make him a hypocrit?

No.

I hear you guys, the Argentines. Shame that a bunch of thugs and idiots are giving your country a bad name. Maradona just needs to shut his fat mouth.

First of all, I think posting anything that starts with "Alvaro says" should be an automatic red card.

Did that moron just compare Maradona to Karl Marx? To the best of my knowledge, Marx was not a cokehead.

First of all, who is Alvaro? Second of all, why doesn't he post it himself?

No no, what angers me is that Maradona defends Communism so much and says that it is the best system and kisses Fidel's feet, yet why doesn't he live like a communist? Why doesn't he go and live in Cuba, and I don't mean that he should go and live with all the stuff that Fidel provides him, he should like the poor people there live. That is what angers me, and the sad part is that so many people follow him :( He should not get into politics, he should stay with soccer only.

the sad part is, like the mayor of Mar Del Plata said "Don't burn anything down or loot the stores because Mr. Bush will not even know anything about it, he is not going to be affected at all by it". This is so true because once Bush leaves tomorrow, everything that will be destroyed will affect the Argentine people, not Bush...What does Bush care if they burn half the city? That is what I find so stupid.

While I denounce any form of violence, I believe that you have to understand that these are acts of desperation. Is this any more violent then the NAFTA deal and other free trade treaties? Labour rights thrown out the window, animal protection gone - "WTO turtle case", national sovereignty gone. If anything that's probably infinitly more violent then what these protestors are doing, it's unfortunate this has happened but we have to look at the context, why are these people doing this?

Because George W. Bush is merely a symbol of what these people really are in opposition to. These people aren't protesting against Bush, that's only part of the picture, these's people are against the selling out of human rights. Kill the 'bastard' and another one will rise up in his place.

I think you're a bit naive to actually think most of the people that give the trouble of going out to the street, burn stuff, fight the police, whatever see that deep. If they actually saw that deep, they'd realise George W. Bush is just one of lots of causes of their problems, and drop it.

If George Bush decided to hop into that crowd, I assure you that he'd be dead within 30 seconds. Or you think they'd spare him? I just can't understand why there's no one with the guts or brains to think and execute an assassination.
