The future of sports video gaming

An idea I have, which I am sure is not 100% original, but I think a great idea all the same is to push the limits of online sports gaming to a whole other level of depth. The idea is relatively simple, take the career mode online. Imagine playing in any of the leagues fifa has to offer and competing for that number one spot with 20 other real players. The logisitics are still something that has to be worked out, but the raw idea has an exterme amount of fun potential and replay value. All you do is go online with your PC, X-box, ect. and decide what time is a convienent time for you to go head to head with your league rivals, example: 7:00 PM sundays and thursdays every week. Select your team, and get ready to fight for a spot in the league, but wait a second it gets bigger. Lets say you get 1st place in the epl guess what its champions league time baby!!! The champions league qualifiers in the Italian league, Bundesliga ect. are your next targets! So lets back out once more and take a look at this awesome idea. You select the time which you are available to play, your league consists naturally of 20 other players from around the world. Outside of your league are all the other leagues within the sphere of influence (leagues affiliated with UEFA in this case). This essentially means at least 100 players per Pod we'll call them. The purpose of having contact with people outside your league besides of course the UEFA cup and the Champions league is, you guessed it transfers, transfer windows applying of course it would become one of the most addicting interactive sports gaming experiences ever devised. My ideas are about as straight forward as a circle so i appoligize but I wanna hear feed back.

sweet idea but i doubt the fat cats in EA Sports would want to this for soccer games since IMO i think it is the sport in video games that they least like or that they pay attention to....

I can only imagine how fun it would be to play in such a large and dynamic enviornment, If you think about all the leagues being incorporated, and i mean ALL the leagues you could even have the dynamic of promotion and relegation huge domestic tournaments, it would be off the hook. Problems I could see occouring however is team availability there would be like 10 people who want to be manchester united for every 1 league and some teams would have no people who wanted to play as them, or at least not very many. So perhaps a small number of teams would be controlled by the cpu. This would also take some pretty hefty hardware as far as servers and all that fun stuff is concerned but it would be so worth considering the amount of gamers it would convert to FIFA. All I have to say is man I wish they did this....

Well that sounds like a nice idea seeing hame many games have tounaments online and such this just takes it one step further. But then again I don't see this happing anytime soon maybe on next gen systems or like 5-10+ years down the road.

lol jimorrizon, i guess you understand it dont have nothing to do with liking it or not, each game has a budget (depending on expected / previous sales and some strategic planning i guess) therefore the team (EA Canada / Fifa) quantity and quality depends on that.

Having that said, I strongly reccomend each and every one in here to buy few more copies of the game to increase sales, aka budget, aka game quality :clapwap:

Let me think about this one for a sec... NO!

Anything done automatically by the EA server is crap crap crap and crap. What happens if someone doesnt show up? What happens if someone cheats? What happens if there is a disconnection? You cant do anything because the stupid EASO server picks a winner itself - sometimes not the right one. Some idiot would find a loophole and exploit it in a sec and win all matches by default. "EA would just stop that" - yea right, dream on...

Nonono... Find some real online league and play there with trusted people, with admins and real rules etc.

No shows would forfit, more than 3 no shows would result in a point deduction. If both teams forfit it would obviously still be a loss for both teams. Disconections would be replayed, cheaters would be booted and replaced (although I'm not sure how you could cheat in FIFA). All though you bring up some valid points I think that good programing and setup would cure most of your complaints without problem.

That is an awesome idea!
I had that idea for another game but on FIFA it is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!

If EA really wanted too, they could pull this off.

I do think that the team availability would be a little tough to overcome. HOWEVER, why do you have to play in an OFFICIAL league? Why not use all teams to make up a league. Only one team per league. If your team isnt there, switch leagues! Now on to Champions league...you could only be entered into CL where your team is not already in there. That would solve that, however that would take away from transfers, unless you only did them in your assigned league. There should be an administrator in charge and stuff. That would be pretty COOL IMO!!!!!!!!!

If that sounds stupid, then there can always be- THE DRAFT. A set draft time would need to be established, but after that 20 people get to draft players onto their team. So whatever team you pick wont really matter because you could be first in the draft! How do you get first in the draft? I dont know....

thats been happening for yrs on the pc... there are a lot of online leagues.

I'm aware of that, thats why I said it isnt 100% original. I am just saying that perhaps the game, and the EA server should perhaps take a more active and responsible role in these leagues. Before it happens in FIFA i'm sure it will happen in Madden, not only because madden is EAs baby but because it would just be simpler, 32 people in a league with one objective: the superbowl, no interleague games, no interleague transfers, no qualifications just 32 people playing in there divisions.

You did say that it might not be 100% original so I don't know why people are making a big deal about that part, anyways like I said it proably wont happen but it would be an awesome idea, specially seeing if you could do transfers online and all then it will make the league part of it more exciting. Now one question, have they done this before (talking aobut, trades and free agents etc.. pretty much like a career mode but online)?

is sort of impossible.. how do you decide which are the only 20 players that get to play in the spanish league... too much of a nightmare and $$ in servers.. and knowing EA you would have to pay.

Yeah it probally would cost a pretty penny, but if they did this right I would be happy to pay. As far as the 20 players who get into a paticular league is concerned, the way I invision it is there are several (perhaps hundereds) of different pods or (global soccer communities) so if you dont get to be in the spanish league of one pod, then surely there will be an opening somewhere else. I could see problems occouring in a different way, no one wanting to play as a certain team. Im sure that you could easily fill manchester united spots for 1000 different pods, but what about fulham, or an even smaller less popular team??? Those spots would become difficult to fill, if not impossible after a certain point, which is why there really can't be more than we'll say 150 pods. (50 xbox, 50 ps2, 50 pc) If there is less freedom because of to be your favorite team then people will be forced to pick fulham or west ham, and hey I dont think that really takes much away from the experience. Keep in mind this concept can be expanded or contracted as much as you like, maybe the best solution is just to play in a single league with 20 other strangers online and any interaction from outside that league will be carried out by the cpu. I dunno it does have some kinks but nothing a little thinking cant iron out.
