Gotto love the guy... :p

Guys I've already sent a PM to Paulo Da Silva asking him what he thinks about a new Porto thread being created, for the new season.
Including the squad, friendlies, transfer rumours, that kind of stuff..

In case he doesn't want to take care of it, I will gladly do it.

BUT, what do you guys think, should it go ahead or should we just stick to this one?

Yes, we use him as a winger. But he himself says he's more like a forward, so we tried that out during the season and frankly that change didn't contribute to the team. We'll see what Co has in store for him...

Bigger than Ronaldo...? Meh, he has the talent to become bigger than Cristiano, but atm he's not showing it (more concerned about the way he looks and still trying to figure out what those other 10 guys in the same shirt are doing on the field...)

OK then, I'll work on the new thread as soon as possible :jap:
_______________________________________________

I hope Adriaanse can be the man to put Quaresma and the other "rebels" in their place, we've been needing someone with that capacity for the whole last season

Pizarro14, Quaresma was considered to be as talented or even having the edge over C. Ronaldo in what talent was concerned, all this in their Sporting days.
Quaresma failed to prove his worth when he was at Barcelona, Ronaldo has achieved recognition in England.
That's what separates them nowadays, Ronaldo grew up and Quaresma didn't...but he's a player with magnificent skills, I hope to see a lot of the kid on the future...with Porto of course (H)

Ok, here's my personal view on those players' season:

- Diego: so-so season, mostly because he needed his time to adjust to a new country and a completely different style of play. Still has a lot to learn, but his end of season gave us all hope.

- Quaresma: huger potential, but wastes it by not using his head most of the time. We've seen moments of brilliance during the past year but, come on, he should be so much better! Just look at his ManU pal Ronaldo; when both kids played in Sporting Quaresma had by far the most recognition. Our new coach may help him blossom.

- Mccarthy: solid season, I'd like him to stay here, but will likely move to Chelsea. Honestly, I think the Blues could get a better striker for the money they'll probably pay Porto.

- Seitaridis: more comfortable playing for Greece than with a Porto jersey, but you got to look at the fact that he's in a different country, playing in a different league altogether. Several injuries didn't help him either. Was way better in the end of the season. Still, a solid first season - and last, since he's moving to Russia.

- Valente spent most of the season injured. That sucks because our reserve LBs are ****e. Hope to see him healthy next season.

- Fabiano: he scored 3 goals this season, despite having played in most games. Amdy Faye, if you pay me half the money he's getting I promise you I'll deliver at least 6 goals. No kidding.

- Carlos Alberto: was shipped to Brazil in the Winter transfer window because he was being a Carlos*ass on and off the field. He has a lot of talent, which only makes the case worse.

- Maniche: he was either injured or saving himself for next season, as he knew he'd be playing for a different club. I think he destroyed the rest of his career by moving to Russia.

- Costinha: he's not going to Russia for the lovely weather either, but in his case I can accept it: he's over 30yo now, and deserves to cash in before retiring.

- Finally, if I may call your attention to a new player, Ibson, whom we consider our biggest revelation of the season. I'm sure you'll hear of him plenty. ;)

Thanks mate!

Im glad Diego sounds like he's adapting!

But Seitaridis.. He's leavin? Where in Russia is he goin? Same as Maniche and Costinha?

I see ur point about Costinha fair enough he's older than others, but Maniche tut tut tut, he would of fit in perfectly in the Premiership, or atleast another top european league. But I don't see the move to Russia being successful at all. Will he even be in the Champions League? Or any European Competition for that matter.

Carlos Alberto.. Wow? I didn't know he moved to Brazil, what team did he go to? For how much and how's he doin? Sheesh I would of thought he'd of been lined up for a descent european team in the summer or next year maybe, how old's he? What did he do anyway.

So Valente will stay next season yeah? Think he'll ever move on?

Quaresma sounds a shame because we all know there's somethin there and ever since his unhappy spell at Barca he hasnt been all that has he, it's a shame really because he could be playing in a top team by now with the right coaching etc, but like you said hopefully the new guy can help him out because he's got it. He's got it.

Hmm I don't know what to say about Fabiano, he's not an out and out goal scorer is he? Don't you think Porto would of been better off getting someone LIKE Oliveira who plays for Betis, i'd rather have him than Fabiano.

Any other transfer news?

This Ibson.. Is he tricky?

Thanks bud.

Amdy Faye I'm gonna help INFESTA on this one:

- Seitaridis is leaving to Dinamo Moscow aswell, for 10 million €

- Carlos Alberto's been with Corinthians since December/January, undisclosed fee I guess

- N. Valente will stay with us next season yeah, and I don't see him moving to a better club in the future because of his age (~30)

- Fabiano was nicknamed "Fabulous" in Brazil, he was on a 2nd line of strikers in the Brazil NT, behind Ronaldo and Adriano, at the time we bought him..should have been a good buy, but unfortunately nothing went well for him at the club.
R. Oliveira is a great player, but at that time he was rated behind Fabiano for sure....

- Confirmed transfers so far:

Players IN
Lucho Gonzalez (Midfielder, River Plate/Argentinian NT)
Lisandro Lopez (Striker, Racing)

Players OUT:
Costinha, Maniche, Seitaridis (Dinamo Moscow)

- Ibson will have a bright future: he's young, skilled, and humble.

Hope I've helped ;)

I know I'm Benfiquista and all that, but I have to say something about FC Porto that I've shared with a couple of my Portista friends.

FC Porto won't win the Superliga next season if the coach isn't given space to build the team in his own image. If PdC doesn't like the idea of Adriaanse bringing the likes of Denny Landzaat (his voice on the field, as Co himself said), Jan Kromkamp and Joris Mathijssen, then what the hell did he bring him on in the first place? He did the same with Del Neri (who in my opinion had a brilliant idea in trying to bring in Barzaglia and Perrotta last season, but PdC disliked that idea) and with Fernandéz. Finally, Couceiro was given this Mission-Impossible-alike job by coaching a team the last coach built with PdC's restrictions. Porto were very lucky in fighting for the Superliga until the last minute in such extreme conditions.

I'd love to see Porto playing like Co Adriaanse is imagining. He's a competent manager, with a close eye on the youth and on the hard-working players rather than on the most highly-rated (or should I say over-rated..). A good signing in my opinion. A great signing if Pdc lets him build the squad. A terrible signing if PdC once again restricts.

Porto has what it takes to fight back for the reign in Portuguese football, but IMO Pinto da Costa is already up there for too much time now. There should be a new chairman, with new ideas, new projects, and lesser controversies. His jokes are already unbearable. Even Porto fans think that already!

My 2 cents on Porto...

Peace

PS - Benfica also made a bid for Hugo Viana. In fact, two bids. One offering cash, another involving Viana in the Miguel deal.

3m1n3m I also think Adriaanse should be given the space he needs to build a team like the one he intends to build.
I miss Porto playing with joy, trying to win every game against any team, with the same will.
He may be the right choice for that job...I so f'ckin hope he is

BTW guys, I've just finished Porto's thread for the new season (H)
