Is it normal to score....

Right, so this was my first season ever playing FM because I just got the game and I took over my boys at Bayern. Chelsea bought my favorite player, Ballack, for 50M euros which was my breaking point right at the beginning. I bought van der Vaart to replace him, but other than him, there were no new signings until the winter break, when I bought Bonera, but sold Pizzaro, Deisler, and Kuffour.

Ok, so I scored 126 goals in 34 Bundesliga games, including the 4 games at the end of the season when I played youngsters after the title was already won. That amounted to a +97 goal difference! I also won the CL, which was highlighted by a 9-0 victory over Olympiakos in the Quarter Finals in the Olympiastadion. I scored 8 or more goals in 6 games, five of them in the league including an 11-1 win!

Roy Makaay won the Euro Golden Boot, Ze Roberto won every award at mid and end season, and had 46 total assists on the year.

Ok, so did I get lucky, is this rather common, or did I just stumble onto one hell of a tactic? By the way, I had a 17 game win streak in the league.

And yes this was partially to brag :)

sometimes when you're the dominant team you get a lot of goals..... obviously you are playing more attacking than anything i've ever done (goal a game... im generaly goal every two games :p)... but 126 goas seems crazy.. you may have just stumbled on a hell of a tactic ;)

Do you have any of the patches installed?

No patches installed.

It's just a 4-4-2 diamond with runs from both the wings and fullbacks, and focusing as far wide as possible. I really think it's because of the great crosses Ze Roberto provides and that him and Schweinsteiger can beat anyone to the byline, so we get a lot of great balls into the box. But I mean, Lucio had 10 goals!

Next season I'm ditching that tactic to concede less though. I now have Bonera, Lucio, and Mexes and they deserve to start, so I'm playing a 1-2-3-1-1-2 with a sweeper now.

Oh, and I finished last in NBA Fantasy this year, although I never was trying THAT hard and completely gave up about halfway through.

one of FM's flaws is its possibility of scoring hundreds of goals with the right tactic, im afriad this is unlikely to change with a patch. You have found a supertactic that fits your team perfectly and one that SI have not accounted for.

TROD.

Well, it really was only one season and it doesn't work nearly as well on the road. The other teams are starting to figure it out now I fear.

Even so it's pretty impressive. Maybe you should try it in a stronger league also and see if it gets as many goals there. Sounds like a very good tactic though regardless.

Starting XI
In my second season with Barca i scored 140 goals in the league, and in my third season i'm currently averaging 4 goals a game in the league.

My line-up:

============Valdes/Lastuvka==============
Damia=======Puyol========Nesta=======Dede
===========Motta/van Bommel==============
Deco===========================Ronaldinho
================Xavi===================
==========Podolski====E'too===============

i also have have these players as back-up:
Reveillere
G.Milito
P.Cannavaro
Guily
De Ridder
Helder Postiga
Maxi Lopez
Albert Luque
Andres Iniesta

i believe i got the perfect tactic:

Maritimo: 2 portuguese championships
portuguese cup
2 portuguese supercups
2 times Cl semis

Liverpool, 2 times champions
3 carling
1 FA
UEFA Cup
Champions league

everygame i play with this tactic i have great results

Yeah, I use the 4-4-2 diamond too. I think I found the reason why this worked so well for Bayern and didn't really work when I tested it out with Chelsea after Drogba got injured. I play really wide and the whole basis of the tactic is Schweinsteiger and Ze Roberto beating a few guys and getting crosses in, and guys like Makaay, Pizzaro, Santa Cruz, Podolski, and new signee Alan Smith can get to crosses and head them home; Gudjonsen, Mutu, and Kezman are stonger with the ball on their feet instead of in the air. It's great it you have big, tall, strong strikers who can finish, and the wings to beat multiple guys, but if you lack any of this, the tactic can't possibly work.

Ok guys, any help would be helpful here. I have a very deep squad for the comming season, so a suggested tactic or formation or lineup or whatever to utilize my best players to their fullest potential would really help.

GK: Kahn/Rensing (Rensing's GK stats are now better, but it's really tough to boot out Kahn especially since this will be his last year here)
DCs: Mexes, Bonera, Beye
DRs: Salihamidzic
DLs: Lahm, Rau, Fabio Grosso
DMs: Demichelis, Faty, Frings (trying to sell him), Hargreaves (great cover, can play anywhere)
MLs: Cristiano Ronaldo, Ze Roberto (trying to cash in on him)
MR: Schweinsteiger
AMCs: van der Vaart, Gambino, Totti (FREE!)
SCs: Podolski, Gilardino (FREE!), Smith

Really thinking about selling van der Vaart right now too after getting Totti and a really good season last term from Gambino.

------------Podolski/Gilardino------------
-----van der Vaart----Totti-------------
-Cristiano---------------Schweinsteiger-
--------Faty/Frings--Hagraeves---------
-----Demichelis--Mexes--Bonera---------
--------------Kahn/Rensing-------------

Cristiano and Schweinsteiger aiming to AM or FW (I prefer to FW)

I think a quick counter-attacking tactic, with offside trap included, could work excelent with the quality of MF you have 3/4 pitch onwards =)

ShiftyPowers

Well, the thing is I would much rather play both Podolski and Gilardino instead of Hargreaves and Frings. Plus I want to get my fullbacks involved.

Actually now that I'm thinking it over I could rotate the 4-4-2 diamond that I normally play with a 4-5-1 that is basically the same except I use two AMs instead of 2 strikers.

EDIT: Oh, and I just sold Frings and Makaay and am working out a deal to ship out Smith.

Just did the Treble in 2006 with my Bayern Team.....

GK: Rensing
DCs: Mexes, Bonera, Beye
DR: Salihamidzic
DL: Lahm/Rau
DMs: Demichelis, Faty, Callum Woods
AMRs: Wright-Phillips, Ronaldo
AMLs: Cassano, Ze Roberto
AMCs: Totti, van der Vaart, Gambino
FCs: Podolski, Gilardinho, Semler

Ok, so here's why I mentioned it.... I declared interest in the Chelski job, the next day they fired Morinho, and now 10 days later they offered me the job. Here's their squad...

GKs: Cech, Jentzsch
DCs: Woodgate, Gallas, Davenport, Johnson
DR: Ferreira
DL: Bridge, Dede
DMC: Xabi Alonso
AMLs: Duff, Cole
AMRs: Schweinsteiger, Geremi
AMCs: Ballack, Lampard, Valeron
FCs: Smith, Santa Cruz, Cole

They're offering 80 Million Euros in transfer budget, Bayern will probably give me 10-15. So what do I do, jump ship to Chelski or stay at Bayern? What I've done now is what any normal person would do, saved the Bayern game right before I took over and saved the Chelski game right when I took over under a different name.

Get the Chelsea job. You probably own the german league. English league will give new challenges, other teams to play. Not always that annoying Freiburg away match. Plus you'll have the chance to play with Ballack, Schwein and Santa Cruz again.

ShiftyPowers

Make America Great Again
Yeah, that is appealing, but I'm really going to have to start from the beginning with tactics again. I hate Ferreira, they don't really have a target man, and they have about 10 world class AMCs who can't play on the wings. I'm continuing with my Bayern team though, I've build that team myself; I do own the German league, but I have epic battles with AC Milan in the CL. This past year they beat me 4-1 at the San Siro, and then in the second leg at Allianz I advanced to the final thanks to a 5-0 win.

Freiburg suck, what are you talking about?

They are my horror team from Germany :( Freiburg away, on both Cm03/04 and Fm05, were for me almost certain losses. They actually always do decent on my games, around 10th position
