Perhaps this is a stupid question, but suppose I'm playing an online game and my option file is different to my opponent in terms of kits and player transfers. Will the database and kits depend on the host or will they have to be the same for an online game to work?

How the hell would we know that?!?!

Here is the scope its all about money and sales ok. if you guys really think after they release the xbox version and take it online and get there money from you guys. they will then put out a pc version of the game and take it online. microsoft must have some agreement to let there version out first ok. and if they went pc first there wont be a need to buy xbox or live ok. so it boils down to money. more money more money:kader:

probably depend on the host or would be set to default

the option file doesn't affect the online play. everything is reset to default settings when you're online.

That thought had crossed my mind.

I don't really care if I can't play online with PS2 as I've never played anything online on PS2.

But many PC games have featured on-line play as standard for many years now. I find it hard to believe that Konami have been unable to get the PC on-line code working given that they first mentioned they were working on it over a year ago. Yet no problem getting the X-box version kitted out  .

I'm holding back on buying an X-box in the hope that the PC version will feature on-line play. If it doesn't, my cynicism towards Konami will only increase. They are increasingly looking like one of the biggest bunch of leeches around.

People like Jumbo are their dream customer - gullible and with money burning holes in his pocket :hump: .

My 2 cents on this whole online business.
1. Microsoft and Konami's partnership with PES4 benefit both company. Microsoft was very shrewd to get KONAMI to agree to have PES4 online with XBOX Live. Microsoft realizes that having PES4 online can only boost the sales of the XBOX console in Europe and Japan as well if WE9 is online. Konami benefits because they do not have to spend money on setting up an online infrastructure and at the same time boost the sales of PES4 on other consoles besides the PS2.
2. Microsoft is handling the online component of PES4. Meaning programming and optimizing PES4 to work with XBOX Live. XBOX Live is the best online network out there right now.
3. I for one like this partnership with Microsoft and Konami. Why? Because Konami will gain more experience with other consoles other jsut than the PS2. We know that PES4 for the XBOX is just a port of the PS2 version of WE8 sans the online feature. The same is true for the PC version of PES4. Konami develop the WE/PES series on the PS2. We know that there are limitations to what the PS2 can do. Imagine how much better WE/PES can be if Konami actually start with a PC build or XBOX build. I love the PS2 but its time for PS3 already.

As far as KONAMI being greedy. What is the purpose and number one goal of any company? That's right, profit. Konami is a public own company. Meaning that it has to make money to gain faith in the people who invested in the company.

PS. Can we get Bill Gates to buy all the league licenses for WE9/PES5?

that's the first real good question (H)
with Bill €€€ we could borrow "all-the-leagues, all-the-clubs-, all-the-all" idea from mEAtrix and implement it in new PES/WE

let's go farer - what about exlusive deal on all licenses for Konami? (H) imagine FIFA 2006 with fake clubs, kits and names :funny:

Han, ask KONAMI whether the game is region-locked or region-free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Send them an e-mail please. Another dude at Evo-web said he booted the game on his XBox set to NSTC-USA.

Some XBox games are region free. There's tons of them. Like Fable for example, etc.

It they were true PES3 would be online by now...

I know what you're getting at. You think KONAMI's gonna leave the Online code from PES4 (XBox) in the PC version for someone to discover... Like someone did with GTA.

Like they say...

Hope is the mother of all stupid.

And she loves all her children very much so you know it can still happen. :D ;)

Jumbo, I assume you now know the PC Version of PES4 has been confirmed as playable over the net ?

no techie , but reading there Pro4 website on booklet style , when it came to PC to PC ! It says something you can LINK PC together...

Quote ...

Features an network mode, where multiple Pcs can get commected for exciting multiplayer-modes.

Clear this up for me , does it mean that if I have a large house with a PC in each of the rooms (or multiple PCs in one room/office) I can connect them to play against each other...

Or does it mean I can go online and play against players around the world...

???

It means both...

Konami probably only wanted it to be the top one, but if you setup a VPN then the bottom point should work too.

With a pc, once you can play with 1PC v another PC, it doesnt matter how they are connected (serial link, network etc) as you can emulate the desired connection on the internet.
