Some quotations from SIGames.com:

A beta demo will be available on the cover disk of the official Football Manager magazine which is out towards the end of September.

You can expect the specs to be similar in nature with our last game as Football Manager 2005 is based on the same engine. Since then though we've made a number of improvements and optimizations to the engine and are expecting it to run faster.

From The Bootroom, SIGames.com, on the future of the game:
Originally asked by Gavin Noble, The Bootroom editor
The 2D view was a major addition to the series, are we likely to see it being replaced in the future with a 3D view, and if not why not?

Originally replied by Paul Collyer, SI Co-CEO
Not for a while. But never say never. A logical progression would be to go towards a 'Sensi-soccer' style look first, but that's just pub talk at the moment!

Originally asked by Gavin Noble, The Bootroom editor
Some ideas suggested on the forums suggest items that are quite gimmicky such as managers setting ticket prices, difficulty levels, being able to edit league structures to create super leagues etc. What is your own view of these ideas?

Originally replied by Paul Collyer, SI Co-CEO
Difficulty levels -- no way. Ticket prices etc -- maybe, if we develop the "General Manager" side to the game and have more than one possible role for humans in the future. Edit leagues -- very hard to implement and a bit down the list at present.

i wouldn't like that... its getting way too tacky. keep it to a manager side of things and just keep improving that. i'd rather they work on gameplay, stats, news and interacting with the rest of the world then the general manager side be implemented.

Speed and interaction are their two main objectives for now. They won't be strolling away from them as much as you fear they might. Notice the "...maybe, if..." ;)

Will the game have a page showing your personal finances? Right now i'm getting offers from other clubs but it doesnt show the wage or anything, they need to add something to give you a reason to sign for the new club. :)

If those suggestions are used, SI are just turning FM into TCM. The board should decide ticket prices and so on, not the manager.
