Also, sometimes games seem to run reasonably fast but when you check the FPS you're shocked that it's only 10 or 15.

ok , but what's our problem ?? !!

What's your Hard Disk ?

Chris Jong my system is almost exactly the same as yours (P4 instead of Athlon) and I'm not having the problems that you are experiencing at all.

When you upgraded your Nvidia drivers did you COMPLETELY remove the old ones first? What I mean is, use Add/remove Software to uninstall the, after reboot, use Search to find every last Nvidia file and manually delete it. Then, and only then, install the new Nvidia drivers.

This has worked for me in the past.

I did that and it still goes slow like a ****. I know how to install ****, I built my own computer, I'm not a retard. It's a software issue rather than a hardware one.

Well, I tried a few things the other day like disable the virus scanner & putting the setting to 800x600 16bit, unsynched & intially the frame rate was like 60 over frames:o but as I played on towards the end of the game the frame rate drop to only 7-10 fps.:crazyboy: . Anyway Gooner_1972 thanks for the advice. I will give it a try tonight when I'm home. Hope this will improve the fps.

Windows XP
Athlon 1.8
GeForce 4 440mx
756mhz ram
40 gig harddisk
Audigy sondcard

I remove the old nvidia drivers using Windows add/remove programs & also delete all the files & folders & reboot & did a clean install of the latest driver. But the result is still the same. Fast at the beginning but very slow at the end. It's like the game is slowing down by itself. No matter what setting I used it's all the same.:S
