What Graphics Card for 2004?

the prices for Radeon 9800 are :-puke: 9500 PRo like I have is like ... 3 times cheaper, and there isn't that big difference! Neither is there to a 9700. aaaahhh And don't let you get caught only thinking at the ammount of RAM it has ... that's got nothing at all to do with how good the card is. A quick example: nVidias GeForce 4.
Ti version:2000 kr. and 64 Mb RAM
MX version: 400 kr. and 64 mb RAM
the difference? EVRYTHING!! RAM is just a teaser, and the actual difference btw them in 3d marks is from 3000 with MX to 12000 with Ti ... do I make myself clear? Thre are a number of other aspects that count, which you should examine for good. Graphical pipelines ... frequency for core and mem ... and so on. LOTS. Don't get fooled by how much RAM a gfx card has mounted ... for if it accesses it with 133 mHz, it will be outperformed by any cards with the half ammount of RAM but accessed with 200 mHz

yah thats what i was saying....the 128mb card comapred to th 256 mb card isnt that much faster anyway...the amount of ram doesnt necessailry mean its faster.

man i couldn't play fifa 99 descently with that card, if i were you i would get a 9700 or at least a 9500 non pro and softmod it to a 9700 pro...well if you want to play fifa 2k4 with good fps there is...

it really depends on ur budget...

if ur low on budget u want to get aRadeon 8500.... they are very cheap on the internet, ive seen them goign for around 50 USD...

and its a VERY decent card...
there are also some good cheap Nvidia Cards out there u can get, but make sure u get one with DirectX 8.1 FULL support and it comes with pixel shadders, cus thats what some games are using now to make graphics better... thats y on a low budget u should get the Radeon 8500 ... it does its job well obove average...

if u get all the money in the world.... just get the latest Radeon or Nvidia Card... u cant go wrong there and it comes down to just what company u prefer... me my self am a Raddy fan ;)

probably not man, can u run fifa 2003 good enough with it....id suggest getting a better card unless you want to run the game at 800X600 and have all the graphics turned to low...most of the 64mb cards are obsolete nowdays....if you got the cash get a radeon 9800 if not a 9500 should do the job...or even a 8500 i think...

DirectX 8.1

Hi, I just bought a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 with 128 MB VRAM (before Geforce FX were available) and I was wondering Where's DirectX 8?

It seems that everybody now goes with DirectX 9 and I'm afraid that my card won't work well on FIFA 2004 and future videogames
Am I right?

Should I buy a Geforce FX even if my AGP is 4x?

Thank's

the card i got is an 8x agp card and i run it on a 4x agp slot, so i don't see why not...btw why don't you just get a ati radeon pro 9800 256 mb or a 9700 they're both faster cards than the nvidia fx and probably cheaper as well, the 9700 that is...

i would not worry too much about Direct X 9... as game developers make games for the mass market, and direct x 9 hasnt gone main stream yet as not everyone can afford them nice 9700+ pro and FX cards..

the only game i can think of that will use DirectX 9 features is Doom 3.

I did play the alppa leak withmyold Radeon 8500 without any probs..any recent cards are DirectX 9 compaitble really, its just that the newwer cards actually do use its features where as a n odler card would not... and as stated there arent too many games that actually use directX features yet.
