I get you, but if we're already talking about kids, let's take into account that these FUT Icons or Heroes are added not to offline modes, but directly to Ultimate Team. And FIFA has always worked to play a year and buy a new game.
Sure, I can turn on FIFA 17, but hardly anyone plays it in FUT on PC anymore, and even if that Casillas was one of the 1000 cards on the market, and I could put coins on him, it's Casillas rated at 82, not 92. Same with van Persie and every other player from 2005-2015.
We also get excited about Cafu, van Persie or even that hapless Joe Cole because we can play them again at the peak of their form on the latest technology.
Let's remember that what you, me and all of us here are doing is a niche. From a Classic Patch perspective they may not all be needed, but...surprise you, but EA may not even know such a thing exists.
Then again, we all live in bubbles. You don't hold an aesthete for a footballer who's career has rocketed once you've grown out of childish joy. In other words, Rooney is to you what Mbappe is to me (which is why I added him to my Classic France).
So there's no need to even get angry about it, because that's the order of things that I'd sooner get David Villa than Luigi Riva, because not even the kids, the generation that the current stars are from grew up on completely different footballers.
But you can always ignore it, then all I can do is shrug my shoulders and say that 20 years from now, I'll probably be grumbling the same way.
