Liverpool's defense is still shit. They should spend some of the coutinho fee on quality defenders.
Exactly. They didn't look like they missed Coutinho. Mane, Salah, and even Firmino saw to that. Apart from Trent Alexander-Arnold, their defence continues to be atrocious. Okaka bullied them silly.

I'm just thinking...Pepe's contract ended at RM. Why didn't liverpool go for pepe? He was gonna be absolutely free and he was still a strong presence in defense. Though he was old he would have added some quality in their defense. But then again he wasn't any young.

I decided since we're such a great club with such a great history (and you fuckers were commenting on the 2012/13 thread for this season anyway) that we'd merge all the Liverpool club season threads into one big Liverpool thread.

3 games in, bad start to Watford, 3 points against Palace and great result against Arsenal. How is everyone feeling? I think we did well during the window - especially keeping Coutinho (so long as he plays like he wants to play). Would have liked to pick up van Dijk or at least somebody to steady our defence - but we at least look ok at one end of the pitch.

And Alexander-Arnold looks to be a great deputy to Clyne and early days but I like the potential of having a real left back again in Robertson, rather than Milner. Milner is great as a first XI backup who can play reasonably nearly everywhere but I was never comfortable with him as our first choice LB. Seems Klopp has renewed faith in Moreno too. Fingers crossed he doesn't let us down.

Mane, Coutinho, Salah, Sturridge and Firmino means we should certainly have goals in us. Hopefully Henderson stays fit, Emre Can gains some consistency (and stays after January) and the future looks bright.

Your future looks bright regardless of Emre Can. The Ox is already in as a joker/cover, and Naby Keita is joining. Your defence (maybe Alexander-Arnold aside) and goalkeepers are the only reasons why you might not challenge for trophies this season.

Where do you think Liverpool might finish in the champions league?

A lot will depend on the RO16 draw. If they get a reasonable opponent, I can see them getting to quarters provided their most important players stay fit. They're a little light in the depth department.

Alex what do you think about the Estonian centre-back Klavan lol? That's Estonia's best player, I think.

From what I've seen the guy gives away so many penalties, makes silly mistakes in defence etc. I mean I don't think he's good enough to be a starter for a club like Liverpool. He'd be more suited for some mid-table, lower table team in the Premiership, IMO.

To think that Klopp couldn't put his differences aside with the French international Sakho, and is playing that guy instead makes me question things.

Liverpool is a mid table type of club so he is perfect for Liverpool.

No other Estonian has played for such a big club. Arsenal legend Mart Poom comes second whose haydays were at Derby County, the goalkeeper. He was actually pretty good.

Kind of makes you proud actually, but shame that he's not doing so well.

Yeah I don't rate him. Agree Sakho is better, but neither are amazing. Sakho is physically great, but not a great player. Klavan isn't first choice in any case.

Banned.

Yes, he isn't. I meant like a starter in last match. So many people are giving him a lot of slack for that City match, but I guess when things aren't going well you always need a scapegoat. Just saying.
