I was thinking the other day....I think Wenger will leave in a season or two as his contract expires and Wenger likes AvB. I think he wants to clear the mess that is the squad and add a few potential future stars ala M'vila,Gotzinho etc..... Our players are young and capable of the football AvB wants to play.....interesting...
I was beaten by Azrael in the Draft and so it logically follows that he knows more about football than I do, especially since he did not resort to cheating (of which I am guilty, as has been demonstrated)
Brendan Rodgers confirmed. And I was really hoping you'd get someone I didnt like
Really promising manager, great attitude and approach to football and also, importantly for a club with a recently tarnished reputation, a superb and unflusterable media performer.
HOWEVER, asking a manager to jump up from his first ever EPL season with a newly promoted club to a big club like Liverpool is always a big risk. Will he be able to keep that rather motley group of players under control? Does he have the transfer experience for a club that has recently shown a penchant for big money signings? Will he be undermined by fans and those within the clubs devoted to Kenny, and the most miserable, whiney fanbase in football? Can he BUILD a style of sexy football at liverpool, as opposed to INHERITING one from Martinez at Swansea?
To be honest, I think you should be happy. YES he may not do much to improve Liverpool and your results in the short term, but I cant think of many you could have got who would have a much better chance than him of doing so, and he could just prove to be a revelation. I think you should be patient with him, treat him as aman who has taken over a midtable club (which is what you are) and is trying to take them forward, rather than a manager who is trying to reclaim a "rightful place" at the top after an anomalous period.
I'm slightly optomistic about Rodgers. An appointment of Martinez probably would have been the worst thing that could have happened if you ask me. I just don't like him.
Meet some Liverpool hooligans the other night and they teach me some amazing songs like "LUIS GARCIIIAAA HE DRINKS SANGRIIIAAA" and plenty anti-torres ones which i can't remember.
After the new owners took over, he said he would love to return but did not want to upset Dalglish becaue he "was doing such a great job". I'd take Rafa* back any day, with open arms.
I don't see Rodgers being kept around for more than 1.5 seasons.
He can't get it done for a club that wants to consistently be competing for a top 4 spot. He's only good for mid-table teams.
On a promising note, he is going to bring Joe Cole back. That's Joe Cole, in case you don't know........he's England's best LW.
On a rather sour note, Martin Skrtel will be sold if the right offer comes along. Disappointing. Skrtel and Agger have a lot of potential. Like Lucas, it will amount to nothing more than unrealized potential.
* if he brings some more ghost goals and penalty luck, that would be great (we can use all the luck we can get)
