FIRST SEASON!!!! Total Football baby, look at those goals
How about the EPL top goalscorers
Just so you don't think this was entirely due to Mideast cash, here's the squad. Balotelli arrived in January; Stuart Taylor started 13(!!!!) games in goal for me in the Premiership too because of fragile ******* Given.
Yeah I went with him. If you said Tevez I'd be pissed The reason was obviously the age and the fact that I was going to pay 700k a month instead of the 175 I'm giving Neymar.
That total football formation made me sentimental and wanting to try it out. I started looking around for clubs (City is the best with Aguero/Cryuff and Yaya/Neeskens), but then realized that my Fiorentina team, the 4-4-2 greats, were much better positioned than any club at the start to play that way. I've had the Total Football tactic as my #3 as we slowly gain familiarity, and decided to unveil it in a Champions League Group Stage home game against Young Boys. One minute into the game...
Solbakken is gonna be appointed Wolves boss, which is basically what's happened in every single FM game I've played this year, he always takes over some relegated Prem club.
Yeah in my Barça game the only tactical difference to yours, Nim, I have Busquets in the def mid position, not in line with the other two. But what are their roles?
I have:
Alves - WB - Attack
Piqué - Ball playing defender
Puyol - CB - cover
Abidal - FB - support
Busquets - AnchorMan - support
Xavi - DLP - support
Iniesta - AdvPlaymaker - attack
Alexis - IF - attack
Messi - T - attack
Villa - IF - attack
Sorry about the textual description instead of a pic but I'm not even in Portugal, let alone at home.
There was a thread in here where I described what I was trying to build, but it's basically trying to ape 1973 Ajax. The middle CM is Neeskens, so box-to-box, and is supposed to mark the other team's main creative outlet. That's actually why I posted that goal; the guy who scored was the Neeskens role, who would frequently swap positions with Cruyff. I would think the only player capable of this on Barca would be Mascherano in a more defensive way. The outside guys can just be whatever suits them. Ideally the outside forwards are one IF (Johnny Rep) and one Winger (Uh... Piet Keizer I think). At City I used Pato as the winger on the right and Adebayor as the IF on the left. Fullbacks are attacking wingbacks. CF is the best role for your Cryuff, so I'd say either DLF (A or S role, probably depends, but he should be a goal scorer as well as a creator), CF, or T. Tevez was a T I think, but he has good PPMs that cause him to score goals and not just spray passes.
Then there is very high creativity and roaming and almost a max-high defensive line and pressing, offside trap, and sweeper keeper with a super high mentality. It's actually kind of ridiculous how often teams will completely wilt under the pressure and concede possession with clearances almost immediately. The FR and FL really makes the difference here IMO because there is zero space for the fullbacks; and with Tevez at CF, he could basically press both CBs. Tempo is high, but not ridiculously so (Ajax would play a lot of quick long balls into space if the opportunity was on), and I tried to balance this out with high time wasting (so they keep possession, although technically that team didn't really sit back and tiki-taka like Barca unless they were sitting on a lead like against Juventus in the European Cup Final). Finally, I play really wide, just like Ajax did. I find that the 3 CMs allow me to play so wide when otherwise it would cause an FM team to lack possession. The final piece is a central defender who will step into the defensive midfield when my team has the ball, which I don't think is quite possible on FM at this point, except with the "classic" tactics, where it actually is possible, but I prefer the simplicity of the creator.
I actually think the best club for this is Manchester United with maybe Welbeck/Chicharito-Rooney-Nani, and the Fletcher as the BtB. The other candidate of course is City with Aguero/Tevez and Yaya. They don't have the right kind of wide players though, so there would be a lot of wasted talent in the original squad as Silva and Nasri don't quite fit in aside from perhaps side CMs.
One of my proudest wins yet with Pro Vercelli. We lost 1-0 at home to Stuttgart, but got back at them in the second leg away from home winning 2-0 with two goals by my man Vincenti!
Here's a very clear video of the all deciding goal. Check how awesome!
Also doing very well in the league. End of march and I'm in first with 5 points clear of number two Inter. This could well be the season for Pro Vercelli, when the old glorious past gets revived. Finally!

I just finished my first season in FM13 and it may have been one of my finest seasons ever.
I picked Granada, Udinese's little brother in Spain. They're expected to fight relegation, but their team is A LOT better than that in the game. I didn't have a transfer budget, but it really wasn't needed with the likes of Torje, Jaime and Odion Ighalo on loan from Udinese. They have a great partnership going. Granada are also financially healthy and in a position to make a profit every month, there's no debt, so there is great potential for future transfer activity.
This is how the season panned out:
Crazy, right? Home and away I beat the sh*t out the likes of rivals Malaga, Sevilla, Valencia, Athletic and Espanyol. And with BEAUTIFUL football. Odion Ighalo finished with 31 goals in La Liga, only 3 behind Falcao (Golden Boot winner). Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo weren't even in the top 5.
I also made it all the way the Copa del Rey final, beating Villarreal, Racing, Espanyol and Xerez on our way. In the final I faced a Barcelona reserve side. Messi, Xavi, David Villa... all injured or suspended. I got lucky.
For the second season Jaime, Torje and Ighalo joined me on permanent basis. I will also be going in the Champions League with a star signing: Isco.
Good luck breaking the Madrid-Barcelona domination in Spain. In previous versions of the game this proved almost impossible, or at least required a lot of patience.
