running oedit on windows 7

wats up guys, i have a quick question.
ive looked around the forums and ran a couple google searches and im still having trouble running oedit on windows 7 (which is the main reason why i havent been able to make kits lately). ive tried the dx8vb.dll method and installing the old oedit version but nothing works. i also have windows xp mode and i installed oedit but im getting an error as well. so if any of you have any info on how to get that working on windows 7 or vista, send me a pm or just post watever info u have here. thanks for any help.
