  • Playergrowth.ini and Mental Attributes

    Hello there,

    in Fifa 15, it appears to be common that older players lose several points on their Mental attributes pretty quickly. It may start around the age of 28 or 29.
    I always thought that Mental attributes should be kept the longest, with Skill attributes dropping earlier and Physical attributes dropping first.
    I tried to influence that using the playergrowth.ini, but it appears that it doesn't quite work. Thus, I wanted to ask if someone else here can share some knowledge.

    What I've found out so far is that it seems that the

    NORMAL_SKILL_X_0 = 16
    NORMAL_SKILL_Y_0 = 80

    stats and the

    NORMAL_MENTAL_X_0 = 17
    NORMAL_MENTAL_Y_0 = 80

    stats are interchanged. I ran a test with youthplayer May Updates while changing the Y value to something ridiculously high (200). The result was that when changing NORMAL_SKILL_Y_0 to 200, the players would get high 90's Mental attributes in the May Update while changing NORMAL_MENTAL_Y_0 to 200, their Skill attributes would end up much higher.

    Keeping that in mind, I tried changing these values for higher X values (representing age). For example I tried changing NORMAL_SKILL_Y_1 to 200 and see if my older players in the squad would regain Mental attributes, but they didn't.

    Changing the "Old Curve" stats didn't have any effect and I don't even know whether Old Curve and Young Curve apply to any players at all, or under which circumstances they apply. Does anyone know something about that?

    For those wondering, Career Mode curve only applies to high OVR players starting at age 28. You can change these values and it does seem to have an effect on old player Mental attributes, but that's not what I'm aiming for; I'm trying to get a reasonable growth and decline for the bulk of the players, which are usually below 80 OVR, while keeping the "special" growth and decline for the top players.

    So, can anyone provide some input?

    Hm. There seems to be an interaction between NORMAL, YOUNG and OLD curves. My old players finally regained Mental attributes after I adapted all of the YOUNG and OLD values to the NORMAL values I used. Not only that, even one of my young players who didn't gain any point in his physical attributes grew there.

    Considering the amount of values I changed at once, I can't quite tell for certain what did the trick in the end. But if anyone wants to experiment a bit as well, I'll post my current values. At least it's a start.

      This is interesting stuff. I knew there were some weird things going on with these values.

      Best to forget it now as FIFA 16 has a new training system. Can't wait to mod that.

        I hope it doesn't stall natural playergrowth too much.

          BlackEmperor , I am modding this for some years now , and the result is never satisfying , and no matter what you change it will have a negative effect elsewhere , where you do not expect it and so on.
          Player growts is totally brocken and in one case players reach their full potential in one year for cpu at the age of 17 , other time at 23 , etc , depending what you change , but never was I able to achieve a constant year growth for all players .
          So forget about it , you are wasting your time , let's hope better from fifa 16.

            You'll never get satisfying results as long as player team growth and CPU team growth use different formulas.
            But if you can make it at least better than vanilla, it's a step in the right direction.

              Any more information on this? How do you access the .ini file? I just see a bunch of jumbled stuff when viewing it through File Master

                Ok I found where you can download the decrypted inis but then what do you do when you're done editing them? How do you put them into play?

                  Just put it into dlc/dlc_FootballCompEng/dlc/FootballCompEng/data and then regenerate.

                  I'd add for everyone else that you should really use the decrypted file, since it adds two new lines.

                    Can I just use the regenerate bh tool in creation master to do this?

                        Can anyone shed anymore light onto this? I'm still playing 15 and would like to stop my career mode players from losing mental attributes at age 29. In fact mental attributes should keep growing period
